Full course description

This asynchronous online course teaches students how to use generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools to increase independence, confidence, and success in college, work, and daily life. Designed specifically for students with disabilities, the course introduces AI as an accessible support tool for organizing tasks, improving writing, strengthening communication, studying more effectively, exploring careers, boosting self‑advocacy, and practicing safe and ethical digital citizenship.

Throughout 10 interactive modules, students learn step‑by‑step strategies for using free and beginner‑friendly AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, Google Gemini, and other accessibility-focused tools. Each module includes short instructional videos, demonstrations, guided practice prompts, and simple application tasks that help students apply what they learn immediately.

The course emphasizes hands‑on practice to help students build real-world skills—including scheduling and time management, writing emails and essays, creating study materials, preparing for employment, managing stress, and using AI responsibly. Students complete a pre‑ and post‑assessment to measure growth across the 10 learning objectives.

By the end of the course, students will feel empowered to use generative AI confidently and ethically as a support tool in their academic, personal, and professional lives.
